While EA has done little with virtual reality to date, this may be about to change, with DICE advertising VR roles they are recruiting for.
EA DICE has recently listed a number of new job roles including Virtual Reality – Creative Director, Senior Gameplay Engineer and Senior Technical Artist. As one of the biggest game developers, with games such as FIFA, Madden, Battlefield and more recently Star Wars Battlefront, EA’s entry into the VR games market could be an important step for the technology.
If they do get into the VR games market, EA would certainly help bring the technology into a mainstream position. Although engines such as the Unreal Engine and Unity already support VR technology it would be a big step for VR gaming if EA’s Frostbite engine also gained VR support.
