The release of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain gave a lot of fans a mix of different reactions when it was released back in September. While the majority were pleased with what Konami and Kojima had done with the title, there are some people that didn’t like how the game turned out. For hardcore fans of the series, many were expecting that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain would deliver more on the storytelling just like what Kojima had done in previous titles but unfortunately, the game focused more on gameplay, which is a good thing as well as it made the title the best action game of 2015.
From the plethora of action games that have been released in 2015, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has exceeded what everyone expected the game to be when it comes to the gameplay department. The missions that players are able to undertake are quite memorable while there are moments where the action Venom Snake has to undertake seems surreal. The mission based quests they did with The Phantom Pain works quite well as the game is able to make each mission shine from one way to another. The plethora of missions available varies from blowing up an area to assassinating a target in an open world environment.
What intensifies the greatness of the action in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is the open world environment. With it, players are given the freedom on how they are able to handle the missions. Unlike in other action games where the path in reaching the objective is quite linear, The Phantom Pain changes that as the missions a player is set to do gives them a variety of options to do them like they can go the other way around to approach the target or go all out.
While Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain fails to impress at storytelling, it does succeed however in the action style we all want in a game.
