Just like any other traditional sport, training and conditioning yourself repeatedly is a key to winning. Find a basic combo or even just a simple move like a quarter circle notation. Charge moves can also benefit from this training regiment as you condition yourself to subconsciously track the timing and release the move at the earliest possible moment. Instead of doing a set of 20 pushups and 20 pullups, why not instead strive for 30 hadokens and 30 shoryukens? Embed that stuff into your muscle memory and it’ll be there to pull out when the opportunity presents itself in a match without too much conscious thought.
