Don’t skip the training room
Modern fighters offering a proper training room might be one of the greatest innovations in the genre. No longer do you have to pump quarters into a Mortal Kombat II machine and test your moves on an AI opponent designed to take your quarters. Now, you can set an AI to automatically block, dish out a certain combo or even just stand there and take a beating. Sometimes it’s good to just set the opponent to perform a common move like Ryu’s Hadoken and see which of your moves can punish it properly. In the case of Street Fighter III: Third Strike, practice your parry timing (there’s even a trial in the HD Remix to imitate the infamous Evo Moment 37 parry) and learn how to turn the tide of battle around with a simple reversal combo.
