Remastering titles for the new generation of consoles has been a popular tool for game publishers lately. In 20145 we saw a heavier time for these remasters than any other year in console gaming. Seen by some as a stop-gap while new games are in development, these ‘Definitive Edition’ remasters help to fill the void when new games are still a few months away. They’re also great for generating buzz and drawing newcomers into a series that they might have missed the first time around on an older console. Whatever the reason, there’s still a market for games that have been a second gleaning and transition onto the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Here are several titles that I feel could benefit from the Definitive Edition treatment, one way or the other.
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
With Kojima leaving after the release of Phantom Pain this September and Konami trying to continue the MGS series without him, a good way for Konami to rake in more cash is to release the definitive edition of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. Since the upcoming Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain is a multiplatform title, there’s a chance the definitive edition of MGS 4: Guns of the Patriots could arrive on the Xbox One. Who’s with me on this one?
