The latest patch for Final Fantasy XIV, known as Dreams of Ice, brings the game up to version 2.4 and adds a whole slew of new content.
Dreams of Ice is the first content patch for Final Fantasy XIV that adds a new character class since launch. Rogue has been added to the roster of Disciples of War, adding with it the Ninja class once you hit Rogue 30/Pugilist 15. This new class doesn’t play like the version you might’ve seen in FFXI as a tank class. Ninja instead opts for more of the damage dealing from behind style of class with new mudra (ten, chi, and jin) that when combined in various forms, boosts the ninja’s abilities extensively.
Final Fantasy XIV also sees a ton of new story content, expanding the main scenario along with a new primal (Shiva). If you couldn’t get your fill of Hildibrand, he makes his triumphant return with a handful of new quests as well. In addition, a new form of Allagan currency has been added to pay for the new sets of gear that have been added in patch 2.4. Allagan Tomestones of Poetics are now the highest form of currency, replacing quest rewards that previously gave out Allagan Tomestones of Soldiery, and Mythology Tomestones are being phased out completely.
