Gamestop (and other retailers) has finally gotten a restock on the elusive Playstation Vita Slim Consoles (PCH-2000) after what seems like an incredibly long wait.
For some unknown reason, many retailers simply stopped receiving shipments on new Vita hardware over the course of the year. Shipments of the original Wifi-only model Vita were stopped/shorted sometime in early 2014, which brought speculators to assume that a new model was going to hit US shores. May 6th, 2014 heralded the release of the Vita Slim handheld, bundled in with a digital copy of Borderlands 2 as well as an 8GB memory card. Shortly thereafter, the model became a bit of a rarity, as other vendors including Best Buy and Amazon slowly stopped receiving new units as well. Sony has not commented on the shortage of new Vita units, although it is my personal speculation that a potential bundle between a Playstation 4 and Playstation Vita would be soon in the works.
If you’re interested in picking up a new Playstation Vita, Gamestop has received a healthy restock of the Slim model that inclues a digital voucher for Borderlands 2 and 8GB memory card. Best Buy also has a restock on the Vita, however they do not have an option for in-store pickup from their website. The MSRP for this particular model is $199.99.
