While the series definitely had some down years, Mortal Kombat was rejuvenated with the absolutely fantastic Mortal Kombat 9 a few years ago. Ever since, gamers have been dying to get a glimpse at the next entry in the long running franchise and after many teases over the last few months, some of which led to this day through riddles, Mortal Kombat X has officially been revealed as the title of the next game by Ed Boon and NetherRealm Studios.
In typical Ed Boon trolling fashion, he started with a simple tweet that said “The name of the game is ‘Mortal Kombat X.'” This made many think that was all we were getting, but luckily that followed with a tweet telling that a link was coming momentarily to get our hearts racing again. After some retweets of people saying they couldn’t wait much longer for the link, he posted a link to the reveal trailer for the game, which showed off some gameplay and a 2015 release date.
