Late last night, some very sad news for gamers seemed to come out with reports that The Last Guardian had been officially cancelled, according to sources close to IGN. However, that report has been quickly dismissed courtesy of Scott Rohde, PlayStation Software Product Development Head.
After no news for years, it was revealed that the game was officially on hiatus, but earlier this year it was said that the game was just waiting for its re-reveal. Then the news came that the game had been cancelled during “Sony’s internal meeting last week.” Luckily, it didn’t take long for Rohde to dismiss this claim by saying the following on his Twitter:
IGN is still sticking with their guns despite updating Rohde’s dismissal to the article by only changing their title to “The Last Guardian May Be Cancelled.” Perhaps people could have gotten mixed up and it could have just been the PlayStation 3 version that is cancelled with the PlayStation 4 version a full go.
