Ubisoft has given somewhat of an explanation as to why there are no playable females in Assassin’s Creed Unity.
It has been confirmed only male assassins will be playable in Assassin’s Creed Unity’s cooperative mode. A pretty sad thing considering how popular the series is worldwide.
Ubisoft Creative Director Alex Amancio tried to explain in an interview with Polygon:
It’s double the animations, it’s double the voices, all that stuff and double the visual assets. Especially because we have customizable assassins. It was really a lot of extra production work.
Kind of disappointing, although Assassin’s Creed games do come out annually. Teams rotate on the series, but they usually have to release each game on a tight schedule. Maybe it’s about time the series has a female protagonist in the main series. The only main character that was a female was in Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation.
