One of the most annoying aspects of the Mario Kart series for years has been the Blue Shell. Punishing the racer in first only, you may lose a race at the last second due to someone who is in last place. Luckily, it has been revealed through the new Nintendo Direct that Mario Kart 8 has added a new item that can destroy the Blue Shell.
Known as the Super Horn, you can blow away all other items, as well as racers, within a certain vicinity around you with a shock wave. This even means you can destroy the dreaded Blue Shell, so this item is one worth holding onto if you are in first place.
Also, like Mario Kart 7’s Lucky 7 item, Mario Kart 8 introduces the Crazy 8, where you get a full arsenal of eight items to use one after the other. Check out the full item section of the Nintendo Direct below, including some we already learned about like the Boomerang and Piranha Plant.
