Square Enix just held a financial results briefing this week, where we learned about the company’s financial earnings for the past fiscal year the ended on March 31. There was one piece of interesting information that has led some to believe that we may not be seeing Final Fantasy XV or Kingdom Hearts III during the current fiscal year at all.
While there was almost no chance we’d see Kingdom Hearts III before March 31, 2015, there was some hope that maybe we’d see Final Fantasy XV later this year, at least in Japan. However, based on the way Square Enix talked, it doesn’t seem very likely. Twinfinite speculated that we won’t see either game prior to the end of the fiscal year, due to Square Enix saying that they don’t expect a return on profit prior to March 2015, and if either of those titles launched in that period, they would sell tons of copies.
This is all speculation at this point, but with as close to the vest as Square Enix is keeping both titles, that’s all we can really do at this point.
