While the big announcements during the Super Smash Bros. themed Nintendo Direct the other day were new characters like Greninja or now standalone characters like Charizard, Sheik, and Zero Suit Samus, there was also the announcement of the return of a veteran that has been around since the beginning, Yoshi. The big news is that Yoshi is getting a major change to his stance, by standing upright.
It does not appear that Yoshi’s moveset itself is getting an overhaul in the new Super Smash Bros., with familiar attacks like the egg toss returning, but having Yoshi stand up will make him stronger according to Masahiro Sakurai. He said this change was made to move more in line with more recent models of the character.
