Ubisoft has made rather bold claims about the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360’s inability to run certain next gen elements of Watch Dogs.
After a lot of ‘next gen’ releases gamers have started to inquire how the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One is enabling better games. According to Ubisoft there are a few things that they have struggled to pull off simulation wise on the old systems and that their new water system doesn’t work at all.
Danny Belanger, Lead game designer on Watch Dogs, recently commented on the new consoles in an interview with GRTV. Belanger remarked:
“It’s not concessions, we’re trying to do the exact same game. There are some differences though, obviously with more power, you can have a deeper simulation. A game like ours is great for that, being systemic with more and more cars, more variety in the people, more people, a stronger simulation. The water is definitely something that is not possible on current-gen [PS3 & 360], so that will be a difference, but for the rest it’s the same experience, it’s the same mechanics.”
So the game will offer the same experience on different consoles but for the full experience PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC are clearly the way to go.
