Ever since the reveal of Princess Zelda’s return to Super Smash Bros. months ago, there has been speculation that Sheik was either being cut from the game, or getting her own character slot. This came about due to Zelda’s new Phantom Slash attack, and during today’s Nintendo Direct, it was confirmed that there will be no split movesets among characters with transformations.
In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Zero Suit Samus came about following Samus’ Final Smash, but that happens no longer, as Zero Suit Samus has been given her own character slot with some upgrades, including jet boots. Sheik is also getting her own spot with the addition of moves like grenade toss and a strong combo attack.
This also seems to hint that Pokemon Trainer is gone as well, especially with the key piece of his Pokemon roster, Charizard, going off on his own this time around.
