Nintendo disappointed a lot of people last year by not holding a traditional conference at E3, but instead choosing to live stream a Nintendo Direct, which had a lot of issues due to the traffic involved. Sadly, Nintendo is choosing once again to skip having a conference at E3, but they have revealed their four prong plan on what they will be doing instead.
The first event will be the Super Smash Bros. Invitational tournament for both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS versions that will be held at the Nokia theater, where 16 “highly-skilled” players will compete against one another in a competition that will be live streamed online. The second builds upon the first by having Super Smash Bros playable at Best Buy stores during the convention. like they did with some games during last year’s E3.
The Treehouse Live at E3 will feature multiple daily streams that include conversations with game creators, tech demos, and much more throughout the event. Lastly, Nintendo will be holding what they are calling a Nintendo Digital Event, which is essentially a Nintendo Direct, where new games will be revealed alongside news and new footage of already announced titles. Hopefully we will finally see The Legend of Zelda Wii U during this stream. This stream will be held on Tuesday, June 10, at noon ET.
