After a hot start in Japan, it seems as if PS4 sales have started to drop off quite quickly.
Media Create has reported that from the week of March 10th until March 16th, 29,677 PS4 units were sold in Japan. This is below the 34,144 and 29,717 units sold for the 3DS and PS Vita respectively in the same week.
The PS4 debuted strong in Japan selling over 300,000 consoles. It appears sales has dropped off since then. It’s possible sales will pick up when more games are released and it’s closer to Christmas. The console launched in Japan in the middle of February of all months.
On a worldwide basis, sales have still been strong. The console is the leading “next-gen” console selling over 6 million units so far.
