Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes didn’t sell as well as its predecessors over in Japan.
Media Create has reported that overall sales for Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes on all platforms was 221,729 copies in the first week. Not bad, but this is around half the sales that other Metal Gear Solid games sold in their first week in Japan.
DualShockers kindly put up a chart comparing the first week sales from other Metal Gear Solid games:
-Metal Gear Solid (Playstation) – 349,921
-Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (PS2) – 469,683
-Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (PS2) – 493,827
-Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3) – 480,695
-Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker (PSP) – 445,138
-Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes – Under 221,729
This shouldn’t be alarming news for Konami or Hideo Kojima. Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is a prequel and is more like a teaser to The Phantom Pain. The game after all only offers around 4 hours of gameplay including cutscenes and all side missions…
The Phantom Pain should be able to sell more copies since this will be a proper full game.
