The MLB The Show series of games has long been the champion of baseball games as a PlayStation exclusive. With 2K Sports bowing out of the fight completely now, MLB The Show 14 is the only baseball simulation game on the market, considering R.B.I. Baseball is likely more of an arcade style game. Most games in this franchise have released in early March in recent years as a way for gamers to get started early during spring training. However, all versions of the game will actually be releasing after the start of the regular season this time.
MLB The Show 14 will be arriving for both PlayStation 3 and PS Vita on April 1, while the next generation version on PlayStation 4 won’t be coming until sometime in May. The later release on the PlayStation 4 is likely due to the level of detail the games will be providing. Back in 2007, the first PlayStation 3 version of the game arrived later than the PlayStation 2 version of the game, so this is no real surprise.
The PS4 is the most powerful gaming console ever made. There’s so much horsepower for us to take advantage of to make the most realistic, best-playing, most authentic baseball video game ever.
The new graphical enhancements can be seen in the above image of Boston Red Sox player Mike Napoli, with the top being the PlayStation 4 and the bottom being the PlayStation 3.
