NPD reports that Americans spent $15.39 billion on video games in 2013.
This includes new, used, rented and digital games. 2013 was a huge year with the release of Grand Theft Auto V and next-gen consoles such as the Xbox One and PS4.
Despite all that, it was still only a 1% increase year-over-year. Physical sales were down 11% compared to that of 2012.
Hardware sales was the only thing that saw a better increase as they rose by 5% compared to 2012.
