Back on November 19, NES Remix game director Koichi Hayashida posted to Miiverse about a really fun contest idea through the social networking service. He wanted everyone to play the Super Mario Bros. challenge from NES Remix and post their fastest clear times to Miiverse and he would declare a winner.
There was not even a prize for it, other than having your fastest time recorded by Nintendo. However, of course some people had to ruin it all by using an exploit to cheat.
Just a few days ago, Hayashida commented on the initial status saying that it was closed and they would soon announce a winner. Then yesterday, January 4, he responded again by saying that they decided to terminate the event due to the use of an exploit in the game, which made it unfair. He did not say whether they would try another contest in the future, but hopefully they won’t stop just because a few people had to ruin the experience.
