GameStop has expressed its interest to sell PlayStation Now memberships in its stores.
A GameStop public relations director told Gamespot the following:
GameStop has built a $600MM digital business, with most of the digital games sold through our stores. Similar to how we worked closely with our partner Sony to successfully sell the PlayStation Plus service, we are looking forward to working with them on including the new PlayStation Now service as part of our portfolio of gaming products we offer our customers
When PlayStation Now was announced earlier this week, GameStop’s share price dropped by a whopping 9%.
It’s unknown how PlayStation Now will impact on GameStop’s sales in the long-term, but it’s something worth looking into. With media becoming more digital in the future, physical retail stores may have to adapt in order to make more money.
