Bravely Default just had a special demo, which features content not seen in the full game, released yesterday on the Nintendo 3DS eShop in the US, with the release of the full game coming on February 7. However, the Square Enix game had already released in some other parts of the western world, including Europe. Reports have surfaced courtesy of IGN UK about some censorship seen in their release of Bravely Default, which will likely also happen to the US release in a month.
Three elements of the game have been censored. First is the clothing of some characters, as you can see in the above image. The western release version is on the left while the original Japanese version is on the right. Second, certain characters have also had their age raised from 15 to 18 in the game. Lastly, the sexual innuendo has been toned down in the localized dialogue.
These changes don’t appear to change anything with the story overall, so it shouldn’t bother your experience while playing. It isn’t a guarantee that this will happen in the US release, but considering it is the US that censors sexual content in games more often, it is a safe bet.
