In a very late announcement, the host for the VGX, formerly the Spike TV Video Game Awards, has been revealed. That person is Community and The Soup star Joel McHale, who will have game journalist Geoff Keighley as a co-host.
Geoff Keighley is always involved with the awards show in some capacity, and took to Twitter today to announce that Joel McHale would be the host of the show. The timing seems kind of odd considering that the show will be held tomorrow at 6 pm ET. The show usually airs on Spike TV, but this year will be an online exclusive at VGXLive.com and across multiple gaming and mobile devices.
Joel McHale has a little experience hosting a video games related show as he was involved with Ubisoft’s conferences a few years ago. Last year’s show was quite the improvement with Samuel L. Jackson at the helm, so hopefully the hilarious Joel McHale will make this year’s even better.
