As we are nearing the release of the Xbox One, those who have no access to the Internet when they pick up the console will be disappointed to know that they will not be able to use their shiny new console right of the bat.
In an interview of Endgadget with Microsoft’s Senior Director of Product Management Albert Penello, he said “Functionally, you will be able to do very little without taking the day one update,” before explaining exactly what you could do when asked. “Nothing. You need the Day One update.”
In other words, Xbox One will really need that Day One patch downloaded and installed before you can any of the games you bought, or use any of its features. “You’re gonna need to take this update. It’s not gonna be really an optional thing” says Penello.
There you have it folks! Make sure that you when buy the Xbox One in two weeks, you have an Internet access! Otherwise you will find yourself staring at that $500 console.
