Sony has confirmed that the PS4 will support 3D Blu-ray playback at launch.
This is a direct response to Microsoft who revealed earlier that the Xbox One will not support 3D Blu-ray playback at launch. Sony confirmed the news to Endgdget. You’ll still have to download the day-one 1.50 firmware for your Blu-ray discs to work. Sony also confirmed 3D PS4 games will be supported, although many of the launch games don’t have 3D anyway.
So if you have a large 3D Blu-ray collection, you’ll be happy to know the PS4 supports them. If you’re getting an Xbox One, you’ll have to wait or just get a PS3 or standalone 3D Blu-ray player instead…
