As you play your PS4 down the road, there might be a time where the led light line on your console will turn from white to red. If that happens, don’t freak out as it’s not really a bad thing.
When it comes to a console showing red lights, many assume that their hardware is dead, just like the “three red rings” on the Xbox 360. If you see the “red line” on the led light of your PlayStation 4, it means that it’s just overheating! To prevent the internal parts of your console from frying, the PS4 will show the red light and shut it down. It’s pretty similar to the PC whereas once it hits a certain temperature, it will automatically shut it down preventing further damage.
According to Sony, if the red line still appears after waiting for several minutes or hours for it to cool down, it’s best to call Sony’s Customer Support at 1-800-345-SONY (1-800-345-7669).
In other words, the red light doesn’t mean your console is bricked or will die anytime soon. It’s simply there as a reminder that you need to properly ventilate your PS4.

November 16, 2013 at 8:16 PMWhat a idiotic title. Your Console flashing Red (Which signals Overheating) – is no big concern. Tell that to the THOUSANDS of people on the PS4 support forums and Amazon verified users who were shipped bricks. Flashing Red & Blue.
The Blue Screen of Death on the PC didn’t totally kill the PC either……..Don’t dare try to downplay this issue, especially when Yoshida straight up lied and said it wasn’t true.

November 17, 2013 at 12:07 AMThe PS4 has several hardware and software faults resulting in a large number of units failing either out of the box or within a short time thereafter. The only fix for these numerous issues is to buy an Xbox One.

November 17, 2013 at 11:48 AM“It’s just overheating …and shuts down to prevent FURTHER damage…. after waiting a couple of hours if the system doesn’t turn on you should call Sony…” you know… because it’s BRICKED, no biggie though.
