The PS Vita hasn’t seen a hot seller, but this does not mean it’s a bad console. There are quite a few good games for the system, plus it’s got many unique features of its own too.

PS Vita Console- $199
The PS Vita itself is a great machine and is usually bundled with at least one game with some retailers. Listings from Gamestop shows that you can get the console and at least one game for only $199. In my country of New Zealand, retailers have bundled the PS Vita with games like Killzone: Mercenary and Tearaway. I saw a Mum and Daughter buy the Tearaway bundle just the other day. This means the PS Vita will cater for all types of gamers and should be a present that might appeal to at least someone in your family.
PS4 and PS Vita bundle (For Hardcore Gamers)
This bundle has been advertised in the UK and features both the PS4 and PS Vita. I advise this for hardcore gamers since it’s likely to be pricey. The official price for the bundle hasn’t been set, but I’m sure it won’t be to cheap. Still, this is great since the PS Vita can play PS4 games via Remote Play. The PS Vita can also serve as a second screen in some PS4 games and as a controller.
16GB Memory Card – $39.99
The PS Vita needs a memory card and I feel that 16GB will be the best storage. It’s not too expensive and 16GB is a lot of space. I have 16GB for my PS Vita and this stores a bunch of games, music and photos. You can opt to pay for the 32GB but this is more expensive as it usually is priced at $69.99.
Tearaway – $39.99 (For Everyone)
Tearaway is a fun game that is appropriate for people of all ages. It’s not violent and the game cleverly utilizes all of the features of the PS Vita. It’s slightly on the easy side, but this makes it a perfect game for kids. It’s a fun and charming game that fans of LittleBigPlanet might enjoy. You can also have fun in the game by making your own paper creations. There are many hilarious things you can make in the game and you can share your creations online for others to see.
Killzone: Mercenary – $39.99 (For FPS fans)
Killzone: Mercenary is arguably the best FPS you can get on the PS Vita. It’s also one of the best handheld FPS games I ever played since the controls are very smooth and fluid. There is a multiplayer mode where you can play with your friends anywhere you go, if you have a WiFi connection nearby. Bear in mind this is a mature game so only buy this for someone that is at least 15 years or older.
Soul Sacrifice – $29.99 (For Action fans)
Soul Sacrifice came out earlier this year and is also a pretty fun game to get for the PS Vita. It’s an action RPG game that is lengthy and features a ton of great bosses. It’s pretty difficult, but you can play with others online to help you out. People have described this game as being similar to the Monster Hunter series. If you are up for the challenge, this is a great game to buy.
Ys: Memories of Celceta – $39.99 (For RPG fans)
Hungry for JRPG games? If so, one of the games that you should definitely pick up for fans of the genre is the recently released Ys: Memories of Celceta from Falcom and XSEED. Assuming you have been playing a lot of JRPG games in the past, Ys shouldn’t be new to you. From its fun action-adventure gameplay to its riveting storyline, Ys: Memories of Celceta is something JRPG gamers should consider for this Holiday season.
Persona 4: Golden – $29.99/$39.99 (For RPG fans)
Aside from Ys: Memories of Celceta, another game that JRPG gamers should consider is Persona 4: Golden. As we all know, Persona games are one of the well-known JRPG franchises in both Japan and North America. For those who missed out the original release of Persona 4 on the PS2 several years ago, the PS Vita is the definitive version to play as it offers improved visuals, new content and many more.
