Aksys Games and Idea Factory are hard at work bringing the next entry in the acclaimed otome, or girl’s, game series Hakuoki to an English audience sometimes next year.
For those caught unaware of the Hakuoki series, it is a story-based game set in the popular Japanese visual novel style. Much of the gameplay is focused around making key decisions and reading story events play out, largely akin to the popular Phoenix Wright/Ace Attorney series. We reviewed one of the previous Hakuoki titles, Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom (PSP) last year.
While not technically the newest entry in the Hakuoki series, Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi is an updated release of the first two Playstation 2 titles from Japan. Both Hakuoki: Shinsengumi Kitan and Hakuoki: Zuisouroku have been enhanced to take more advantage of the Playstation 3’s capabilities, including Japanese voice overs and a fast-forward option to skip over previously viewed scenes.
No release date or price has been set for Hakuoki: Stories of the Shinsengumi but we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as Aksys Games announces them!
