Naughty Dog could have made another Jak and Daxter title instead of The Last of Us according to a new report.
Naughty Dog’s creative director Neil Druckmann explained during the International Game Developers Association Toronto 2013 conference. They were tasked to reboot Jak and Daxter, but decided not to go through with it as they didn’t know how to make it different.
Here’s what Druckmann said as reported by Shack News:
Our task was to reboot this game, Jak & Daxter,” he said. “So we spent a long time exploring the world of Jak & Daxter. How would we reboot it? What would it mean to bring these characters back? What are some story ideas that we were getting excited by? And as much as we liked a lot of these concepts and kind of exploring this fantastical world, we found that the ideas we were passionate about were kind of getting away from what Jak & Daxter was.
Eventually, Naughty Dog went on to make The Last of Us instead which was released to huge acclaim earlier this year. I wonder what game they will make for their first PS4 title…
