Take Two released its quarterly earnings for the fiscal second quarter of 2014, which was obviously propelled by Grand Theft Auto 5, that launched just last month. This report shows that the record breaking title from Rockstar Games has sold 29 million copies in only about six weeks.
This total is phenomenal for many reasons, including the fact that the game has now sold more copies than Grand Theft Auto 4 did in over five years, while it took less than six weeks for Grand Theft Auto 5. The predecessor was no lightweight either, as it has fantastic sales right out of the gate and longterm. This really just shows how dominant Grand Theft Auto 5 has been in the market so far.
Take Two also says that they believe the latest entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is the fastest selling entertainment release in history.
