While Eidos Montreal has Thief coming out in February and a next generation Deux Ex title coming, they have now cancelled an unannounced title they had in development. Rumors started to circulate about this news, but was confirmed by Eidos Montreal directly to Kotaku today.
Some of the sources that initially leaked the cancellation also say that the now cancelled game may have been in some way connected to Square Enix’s Japanese branch, which is the parent company of Eidos. The sources also say that the title was very likely a completely new IP. The only definite information that was received was that the game cancelled is definitely not Thief or the next generation Deux Ex game.
Considering the fact that this game was unannounced, we may never discover any of the details about it, but hopefully we will learn what it was eventually.
