The only disappointing news from today’s Nintendo Direct was the fact that one of the Wii U’s holiday release period titles has been delayed until early next year. Nintendo president Satoru Iwata relayed the news that Retro Studios’ Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze has been delayed until February 2014.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is Retro’s second go at the Donkey Kong franchise after the very successful and critical acclaimed Donkey Kong Country Returns in 2010. This time around we will also see the reintroduction of Dixie Kong for the first time since Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble!
This is not the first delay for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze as it was first scheduled for release in November 2013, but eventually pushed back to December 6. Now it has been delayed until February 2014. Iwata says that the reason for the game being pushed back is as a result of them needing a little more development time.
