With the release of The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds so close, Nintendo’s Eiji Aonuma has been in the spotlight quite a bit lately with a variety of interviews. This time, he spoke at New York Comic Con where he gave a very interesting hint about one of the stranger entries in the Legend of Zelda franchise, Majora’s Mask, and how it ties into the upcoming release.
Ever since the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D for the Nintendo 3DS, many have speculated and almost expected a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask for the handheld. Aonuma seems to be always asked about this, and there was little doubt it would happen again considering the speculation of something that looked like Majora’s Mask in the shop for The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
Aonuma dismissed this idea, but did say that you may find your answer when you beat the game. Could this mean that the game actually relates to Majora’s Mask in some way, even on another timeline, or is it more in the vein of Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance where the ending credits hinted at both the HD collection and Kingdom Hearts III.
I guess we won’t truly know until the game releases on November 22 for the Nintendo 3DS.
