One of the biggest releases for the Playstation 4 launch is definitely Killzone: Shadow Fall, and now we have some details about the multiplayer aspect of the game. The official website for Killzone posted a blog saying that fans have scrutinized the multiplayer announcements and looked through every frame of the Gamescom trailer, but they wanted to give some information that had been missed.
The player mechanics will be getting a huge upgrade as multiplayer will be picking up some of the features from single player, such as the cover system and sliding mechanic. The game also adds drop-down melees to the fray, as already seen in single player in the past. Multiplayer gives you a choice of 22 different weapons, which are all unlocked from the start. The blog goes on to say that it is vital to master the various dynamics of each weapon if you want to perform well on the battlefield. In addition to the 22 weapons, there are 19 weapon attachments in multiplayer, that you can unlock by completing an array of challenges.
There are three different class types available in multiplayer as well as 12 unique special abilities that you can use. Each class can be upgraded with two of the special abilities available, which will allow for you to customize the way you want to play. The only ability that is given specifically on the blog is the Placeable Spawn Beacon ability. Killzone: Shadow Fall will also feature custom warzones, with eight different mission types, four of which are brand new to the series’ multiplayer. This further allows you to customize the way you want to play your game.
There will also be combat honors, or temporary bonuses, that you can earn by scoring a certain number of points in a round. The bonuses will stay available as long as your current sessions lasts. The example the blog gives for possible bonuses are increased movement speed or reduced recoil when firing weapons. The last part mentioned in the blog references the plan for multiplayer DLC. It says that there are plans for paid DLC after release for multiplayer, but it will only be for new gameplay and customization features, while all map packs will be free to download to avoid a fracturing of the player base.
Killzone: Shadow Fall will be available on November 15 at launch exclusively for the Playstation 4.
