One of the tasks everyone has to do in Final Fantasy XIV just right after they beat the main storyline is to take down all three Primals once again. This time around, they’re much tougher and will pack a very nice challenge to those who want a hefty reward. After taking down Ifrit and Garuda in the hard mode difficulty, the last Primal (for v2.0) that you have to fight is Titan, the Lord of the Crags.
Gamers who want to tackle the Coil of Bahamut (end-game dungeon) or get the relic weapon for your class, taking down this toughest foe yet will be your goal. Without further ado, here’s our guide on how to take down the mighty Titan.
Important Details
As I mentioned earlier, Titan is the Primal you will hate, just because it might take you days or weeks to take him down. One of the things a player must remember is that this fight needs a well-organized group. If the fight with Garuda gave players a hard time due to a lot of moving around and dodging, double that difficulty when fighting Titan. The key in this fight is to move around and know the rotations. There are five phases in Titan’s fight.
Players who are thinking of using Duty Finder should not do it. It’s recommended that players should form a group in the server that they’re in. Here’s what I recommend:
– Have three healers (two WHM, and one SCH)
– 2 Melee DPS (DGN and MNK)
– 2 Ranged DPS (BRD and SMN/BLM)
– 1 Tank
To make it a lot easier to everyone, I recommend that everyone should have at least 75% Darklight Gear.
Strategy
Simply know the following moves that he will do and learn how to dodge it:
PHASE ONE
– Landslide
This is a frontal line attack of Titan. You will see him casting it as a line will appear coming from him. If you see it, move as soon as possible. If you get hit, you will get damaged and will get a knockback.
– Tumult (Stomp)
In this phase, Titan will stomp the ground two times. Make sure that healers are ready to pop AOE heals (don’t overheal!).
– Repeat
Transition to Phase Two: Geocrush
Titan will transition to his second phase when you see him jump. Once that happens, a red circle will appear. Make sure to stack where the tank is and DO NOT go on the RED line. Have the healers ready for AOE heals and if you have a SCH in your group, use Sacred Soil.
PHASE TWO
– Weight of the Land
Remember that Radiant Plumes from Ifrit fight? Apparently, Titan will have that move as well but he calls it Weight of the Land. As soon as Titan goes back to the ground, the next move that he will do is the Weight of the Land. Two-three will spawn on the battlefield and it’s imperative that you dodge it.
– Landslide
Same thing as the first Phase. Simply dodge its frontal line attack if you don’t want to get pushed back. (NOTE: The area where you’re standing it will get narrower)
– Tumult
He will do two stomps. Healers be ready to pop AOE heals. If you are a SCH, you cast your Aldoquin ability to lessen the first damage.
– Repeat
Transition to Phase Three: Geocrush
Just like before, stack where the tank is and prepare for a massive AOE heal. Healers should be ready to pop Medica II to get everyone back to 100% health.
PHASE THREE
– Landslide
– Weight of the Land
– Bombs
Titan will cast a series of ticking bombs around the area. To evade it, look for the first bomb that drops and make sure you remember it. As the bombs drop, you should go at the spot where the last bomb drops. As soon as the first one explodes, go there.
– Landslide
– Weight of the Land
– Granite Goal
Just like in normal phase, Titan will randomly turn someone into stone. As soon as this happens, have the DPS take them down pronto.
– Tumult
Expect a series of stomps from Titan. As always, healers should be ready to pop AOE heals.
– Repeat
Transition to heart phase: Geocrush
After Titan reaches a certain amount of HP, he will once again do Geocrush, indicating that he’s about to do its heart phase.
PHASE FOUR – The Heart Phase
This is a DPS race. Make sure that the group has at least two Limit Break bars (at least two) and have either the Monk or Dragoon use it. The group’s main goal here is to take out the heart before Titan finishes its first cycle of rotation.
Here’s the rotation:
– Granite Gaol
Have every DPS in the group take out the rock.
– Landslide
– Weight of the Land
– Tumult
– Granite Goal
The second rock should be IGNORED until the heart is down. Make sure the DPS is focusing on the heart. If the group succeeds in taking down the heart of Titan, they have several seconds to break the rock before he does his Earthern Fury. If the group fails to take down his heart before he jumps in the air, he will wipe you all out.
Transition to last phase: Earthcrush
If the group succeeds in taking down the heart, the Earthcrush move that Titan will do will only deal half of everyone’s HP. Make sure healers are on point with their healing as soon as Titan gets back on the ground.
FINAL PHASE
This is where the fun starts. The final phase is one of the hardest since there will be a lot of mechanics that everyone needs to learn. Once every single move of Titan is memorized by everyone, it will be easy for everyone to dodge and know what’s coming. The move that can wipe the entire group is Tumult as the amount of stomps he does will increase depending on how long he stays alive.
Here’s the rotation and my tips:
– Mountain Buster
The moment Titan finishes with his Earthcrush move, the healers have several seconds to make sure the tank has full HP. When Titan casts his Mountain Buster, the tank will have somewhere between 3-4K damage. Make sure there’s a healer dedicated in keeping the HP of the tank in check.
– Tumult
It will first start with around three to four stomps that deals around 600-700 damage each. If the group has a SCH, make sure they cast Adloquin just before Titan casts its Tumult move. If there is no SCH, the White Mages can use the VIRUS cross-ability they learned from leveling the Arcanist to 15.
– Weight of the Land
– Bombs
– Landslide
Titan will cast Landslide while there are bombs in the area. Make sure you go to the last bomb being dropped and immediately run to the first one that explodes to evade it. Don’t get distracted by Landslide!
– Mountain Buster
Again, make sure the healer of the tank is making sure their HP is at 100% before Titan cast its Mountain Buster move.
– Weight of the Land
– Granite Goal
– Landslide
– Repeat
The more cycle he does in his rotation, the more stomps he will do in his Tumult move. When the group reaches to a point where Titan does six to eight stomps, have the tank cast its Limit Break. It’s recommended that you do this when Titan is at 10-15% HP.
