It has been confirmed by Microsoft that external storage will not be supported by Xbox One this November.
Major Nelson admitted the slightly bad news during his podcast where he said the following:
The future plan is for definitely to support external storage much like we do on the Xbox 360.
My understanding is that feature will not be there at launch because the team is working on some other things, but it definitely is on the list. I don’t know when it will come in though.
The Xbox One supports external storage support so you can store game installs, downloads and other things.
The Xbox One will come shipped with its own 500GB internal hard drive which isn’t replaceable. Hopefully Microsoft will make external storage possible before gamers fill up their hard drives!
