Microsoft has revealed that its point system will be gone by the time the next Xbox Live update goes online.
Microsoft chief product officer Marc Whitten revealed the following:
“After the next Xbox 360 system update when you go to buy something or redeem a Microsoft Points card or code on your console with your Microsoft account, we’ll add to your account an amount of currency equal to or greater than the Xbox Marketplace value of your Microsoft Points, which will be retired.”
The rollout is expected to be from “late 2013”. With the change, you can also buy gift cards that will also display local currency for you to buy on the Xbox Live Marketplace as well.
This comes as great news considering it was difficult for some people to calculate how much something really was in the old points format. Now you will know exactly the amount of money you are spending when you are on the Xbox Live Marketplace.
