The Sony news just keeps on flying from Gamescom today. During their conference, Sony introduced a discounted upgrade program for specific titles. This allows for people who buy Playstation 3 versions of games to upgrade to the PlayStation 4 version for a “significantly discounted price.”
At this time, a few games have been confirmed to be part of the program, including: Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Battlefield 4, and WatchDogs. The specific publishers that are working with Sony for the program at this time are Activision, EA, Ubisoft, and Warner Bros. This discount will be available through Playstation Network as a downloadable title. It was not announced if this program will be available worldwide or is a US exclusive.
This is a very good option for gamers that just can’t wait for the release of the Playstation 4 on November 15 to play big upcoming releases like Assassin’s Creed 4: Blackflag, which releases in late October, and want to go ahead and pick up the current-gen edition of the game.
