EA (of all companies) is allowing for its customers to refund games they purchased on Origin if they’re unhappy with it.
Usually when it comes to downloading digital software, you’re stuck with the product forever. This has been a flaw of digital distribution since the beginning because you cannot refund, trade or exchange anything online.
However, EA is allowing you to have refunds but some parameters have to be met first. Here’s what EA posted on the official Origin website:
The new Origin Great Game Guarantee works like this: You may return EA full game downloads (PC or Mac) purchased on Origin for a full refund–within 24 hours after you first launch the game, within seven days from when you purchased it, or within the first seven days after the game’s release date if you pre-ordered it (whichever of these conditions happens first).
Requesting a refund is quick and easy. Just visit your order history and click the “request a refund” link next to your recent purchase, answer a few quick questions, and we’ll take it from there.
The policy starts today in 20 countries and will be made worldwide by September or so. It only works for EA published video games as of right now. This should come as great news since digital purchases elsewhere (Steam, PSN, Xbox Live, iTunes etc) don’t offer refunds or exchanges of any kind.
