It appears Capcom is laying to rest the Darkstalkers franchise for the time being. This will come as bad news for fans of the 2D fighting game series.
Capcom product manager Matt Dahlgren said the following to Siliconera about the franchise at Comic Con:
“Darkstalkers Resurrection did not perform as well as we would have liked to perform. There is nothing Darkstalkers on the immediate horizon for sure”
Darkstalkers Resurrection was a digital release that featured the second and third games in the series. If it was popular enough, Capcom may have given us an all-new game.
Maybe in the future, the series can make a comeback if enough fans get rally for a new game to be made on the PS4 and Xbox One.
