It sounds like people that bought the Ouya are only playing free games as not many of them have bought any.
This comes from an interview with Ouya CEO Julie Uhrman by The Verge. The actual statistic is that only 27% of Ouya owners so far have actually paid to play a game on the system.
She says that “numbers will grow” once more people pick up the console and when developers see the potential of Ouya by the end of the year.
The best selling game on the Ouya to date is TowerFall which has earned the game’s creator $21,000. On the lower end of the scale, some developers have only earned a few hundred dollars from their games on the system.
With the PS4 and now the Xbox One allowing indie developers to self publish their games, it might be an uphill battle for the Ouya from this point forward if nobody is buying games on the console…
