Adventure Time‘s latest video game outing (not counting all of those Cartoon Network.com flash games) aims to bring Finn and Jack back into a digital version of The Land of Ooo, but this time they’re bringing friends.
D3 will be bringing Jake’s furry face back to the consoles with a sequel of sorts to last year’s Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why’d You Steal Our Garbage? for Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS. Foregoing the Zelda II-esque sidescrolling adventure, WayForward will instead be opting for something a bit more familiar to modern gamers: Diablo-style action and looting. This upcoming title, slated for PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS and PC, is called Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW!
Gameplay in Adventure Time: Explore the Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! is largely centered around the action RPG we’ve grown fond of in the past few years but with a few tweaks to make it more accessible to both newcomers to the game style as well as fans of the show. Below is a quote from Aaron Blean, producer of the upcoming Adventure Time title, to Polygon.
“Where the first game was strictly a side-scrolling adventure game with a top-down mini-map, kind of like a Zelda 2, this is more of a top-down three-quarter perspective Diablo/Gauntlet-style game. But instead of having this super hardcore 100 hour RPG where you have to min-max everything, we just wanted it to be fun. We also wanted it to have enough meat there so if you were that type of gamer, you could still play it and have the fun you want.”
Adventure Time: Explore The Dungeon Because I DON’T KNOW! will be available on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PC and 3DS this fall.
