When Battlefield 4 releases on Xbox One later this year, the game will make use of the hardware’s Kinect in order to make the experience more fun.
As to what use the Kinect will have on Battlefield 4, it’s still unclear since DICE refused to talk specifics yet. According to Karl Magnus Troedsson, DICE General Manager, he said that the company has “a pretty pragmatic view” on Kinect. Those who are hoping for some sort of a motion control gaming will most likely be disappointed as they’re not implementing that with the game, since they rather prefer a real input of players.
You need to have very precise control over what’s going on, and trying to do something like that with motion control input does not make sense – not if you want to keep the same kind of formula of the game as we [have] now. You’d need to build a different kind of shooter – Troedsson via Game Informer
The Kinect features for Battlefield 4 will most likely be voice commands, similar to other shooter games like Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. When it comes to voice commands, they are rather getting old but hopefully DICE will put something more unique.
