Microsoft includes a Kinect with every Xbox One console. However, there is a specific reason why there is no camera bundled with the PS4.
According to a report from IGN, the main reason was to make the PS4’s price cheaper compared to the Xbox One.
Sony had planned to include the camera with every PS4, but this would have made the PS4’s price $499. In the month leading up to E3, Sony informed retailers that it has decided to not include the camera to make the console look more affordable. This was a wise move since the Xbox One costs $499 and is $200 cheaper than when the PS3 launched back in 2006.
The PS4’s camera is now just an optional add-on for the console and will cost $59.99. Since it’s not a mandatory accessory, not all games will make use of the camera’s features.
