Even though The Last of Us only came out on June 14th, the game is already on backorder for some retailers in New Zealand.
One of the retailers is online store Mighty Ape. The game is currently on backorder with stock not due to arrive until June 17th. First shipments of the game must have been sold out very quickly.
Even in physical retail stores, copies of The Last of Us were empty on the shelves due to overwhelming demand. I went to town earlier today and EB Games and JB Hi Fi stores had signs saying the game is on backorder as well. They advised customers to also wait for the next shipment to arrive.
This goes to show you how much people love the game. Not since Red Dead Redemption came out have I seen a game sell out of first shipments so quickly in New Zealand.
