Despite Australia passing a bill earlier this year that allowed the classification for R18+ video games, Saints Row IV still failed to pass the censorship board in the country.
Acting Director of the Classifications Board, Mr Donald McDonald (real name) announced the following in a press release:
“In the Board’s opinion, Saints Row IV, includes interactive, visual depictions of implied sexual violence which are not justified by context. In addition, the game includes elements of illicit or proscribed drug use related to incentives or rewards. Such depictions are prohibited by the computer games guidelines.”
Depending on what state you live in Australia, you can still import Saints Row IV from other countries. However other states won’t even allow you to do that either.
It has been revealed the game will still be released in New Zealand and will carry a R18+ rating.
