When the Wii U launched late last year, gamers could buy either a 8GB or 32GB version. It looks like Gamestop will no longer be selling the 8GB version at its stores.
A “reliable” source from Kotaku contacted Gamestop and they said:
“Nintendo Wii U Basic Recall – Two Week Preparation On Tuesday, 6/18, all stories will need to return all new/unopened Wii U Basic (020359). .. Stores that have 10 or more in stock will receive shipping cartons from the [distribution center]. .. All other stores will need to save shipping cartons for this recall.”
Gamestop has yet to comment on this and Nintendo refused to comment altogether. It’s possible the 8GB version wasn’t selling well and Nintendo will just announce a price drop for the 32GB version. After all, the PS4 and Xbox One will be out later this year.
