Following Sony’s announcement of a firmware update coming to the PlayStation 3 later today, I’m pleased to tell everyone that the PS3 4.45 firmware is now available for download.
As we posted earlier, the firmware 4.45 will feature a trophy notification options and an improved system stability for the console. Unfortunately, the update is not a major one though you will be required to install it as it’s not optional.
We’ll post again later if we see any hidden features within the firmware. Stay tuned.

June 18, 2013 at 10:37 PMUnfortunately, the required update has left me with no XMB. The wave graphic shows up but there is no getting past that to the menu. None of the safe mode options will bring me back up and running either. I couldn’t care less about having the ability to turn trophy notifications on or off during games – I just want a working console – which I no longer have. I hope Sony rectifies this and does so quickly.
