A lot has been talked about concerning the impact of used games in the video game industry. Many people believe publishers like EA dislike used games. The publisher itself however says it has no problem with them.
EA Games Label boss Patrick Söderlund commented to Eurogamer:
“We don’t have a problem with second-hand sales as they are today. We clearly articulated our stance when we abandoned Online Pass.”
Both Sony and Microsoft say it’s up to third party publishers on how they want to handle used games. This will be an interesting scenario because some publishers may not enforce restrictions on used games altogether. If one does, they’ll obviously face a lot of negative feedback from consumers.
